Hi, everyone!!

I had the privilege of working with Christine Smith Digital Designs this week!! She created a new kit called "Winter Bliss" which I loved to work with. The layouts made themselves using this kit. Her store (and the kit) can be found right here! (Just click!)

Here's the preview of Winter Bliss:

And here are a couple of layouts I created using it! As you can see they look totally different even though they are made with the same kit! I LOVE that about some designers when they can achieve this!

Next is a new kit by Key of D, one of my newest creative teams. Her new kit is "Labeled Dates" which are like Dynamo labels with months, dates, years (previous and to come) and ALSO....holidays!! So kewl!! You can find the kit here! It's easily recolored to what you need for your layout! Check out the preview:

And here's the layout I created....see the labels recolored a gorgeous purple?? I also used Key of D's "Pop!" kit, so perfect for the bubble blower and her template kit, "Split and Cut Templates" (Click their titles to check them out)

And one more new kit. This one by Pixelily Designs over at Funky Playground Designs. It's titled "Will Do, Won't Do" and can be found by clicking on the title. There is also a word art add on, "Will Do, Won't Do Labels". Here's a preview of both the kit and the label add on....super kewl!

And here's the layout I made. I wanted to show off the versatility of this kit and didn't go with the New Year's resolutions. I went with showing off a little of our trip to Chichen Itza using the newspaper background included in this kit!

As my brain and memories begin to heal...

I am hoping to step up my scrapping. April, one of my traveling buddies and best friends, passed away from breast cancer, May 27. She will be missed terribly! I also know she would love for me to get back to what I was doing...so hopefully you'll see tons more of me blogging and scrapping and just plain doing. I am also a new GREAT aunt, yes, my niece had a little one, Samantha, who is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Also, I was accepted as a guest designer for Lina of LDrag Designs for September and you know I can't wait. I quit all CT teams and other responsibilities at the end of last year and would love to start anew, so this has me alllll excited!!! Here are a couple of my latest scrapping pages...hope you like them!

Created using LDrags kit "Be My Friend" plus the frame is from Farrah's Designer Scraps "Ornate Frames". It's my middle niece, Nathalie with her 2 friends, Victoria and Rachel.

And this is also one of my faves, Rachel at the beach (Nat's sister). I used "Driftaway" by By Becca and Graham Like the Cracker, and textured the photo using Extreme 4 Texture by Jessica Drossin.

don't let that stop you from finding the new releases. The problem is...new releases won't be released until tomorrow....sigh. But I will let you know that Kim, the Geeky Diva (I giggle at that name, it's so cute!) will be releasing a CD Calender kit for 2011. What a fantastic and very easy Christmas present for your family. A little hint when you work with this. Remember it's a ton smaller than a 12X12. Make your shadows a lot smaller than normal (say you set it at size: 20, distance: 10 and Opacity: 75, bring it down (10, 5 or 4 and 65 thru 50). It makes the shadows more in perspective to the size of the project. Here is the preview of the kit:

Well, I've been gone for a while..

but I think I'm back for good!! 5 infections cannot keep me down!!!

I've started scrapping again and first, I had the privilege of using Geeky Diva's NEW "Letterbox Templates" found at Scrap Matters (just click!). I used it to scrap my photos of the Barcelona Cathedral and they were perfect!:

I love how they turned out! I used the kit "Wings and Wildflowers" by Creations by Rachel.

I also completed the In Living Color challenge at SM. We had to use the color green (not too hard for me). Here's the layout "I'm 1 Today" starring little Jackson opening his presents. Too cute!

For this layout I used: Birthday Bash(boy) by Trixie Scraps, Glitter Mess by Juno Designs and Half Moon Bay by Chelle's Creations for the stitches.

too long since I've updated my blog. I had to do a second series of antibiotics and they have kicked my tushy!!!! It's been a difficult past 2 months but I'm hoping to find my health improving over the next few months. First, I'm losing weight but I'm not on a diet....I've changed my eating habits a little at a time. Also, I will be starting a new psoriasis med in April called Stelara. Woot!! I can't wait!!

since I posted....still not up to full health yet but working hard on it!!

I was able to work with a kit..."Jealousy" by Tracy Drane. This kit worked so well with some of my heritage photos (I'm even in one LOL). It has that vintage yet sorta modern feel!

I used Dirty Feet Design's A Funny World kit found here at Denim and Daisies for the embies and paper and had fun! The only thing I left off was March Madness (not a sports fan, I know....booooooo).

since I've posted. First my psoriasis flared up. I won't go into explanations but it's not pretty. Then about 5-6 days later I sprained my back (actually the diaphram muscle) and I can't take muscle relaxants....argggghh!! Anywho, I can now get up without help and the psoriasis is slowly clearing!!! Feels good to be back on the puter!!

Here is the latest layout I did of my oldest niece, Heather and her fiance' Chris. Don't they make a cute couple??? September 19th is the big day for them! Woot!

Heather...Dirty Feet Designs is....

back...and I'm so excited!!! She's had a rough time for the last several weeks but came back with a designer bang!! Here is her new kit to be released on Friday, September 4 at Scrap Matters..."Dream in Color"....gorgeous!!

Here is my layout, "Kissie Face - Mommy and Jackson"

Just a hint in working with layouts...in this one I blended 2 papers to make the one I used for the background. All you have to do is either change the opacity of the top paper or use your layers palette and play with the types of layers...I usually use soft light or overlay but have used hard light in the past.

For the photo I added a "hue/saturation" layer and desaturated the photo till there was very little color. I then added a second "hue/saturation" level and checked the colorize box in the lower right hand corner. I then used a soft light to just make it only slightly red but still bring the soft colors of the original photo through. Have fun playing!!!

We've been in the 90s but...

...it's due to get much hotter in the next few days, so I went out this AM and trimmed Danny Boy (my silkie) as short as he would allow. He wouldn't let me at the tummy hair so I'll do that tonite. Can't blame him, it must get tiring to just sit and have your hair chopped!!

We've had 2 speed scraps in 2 days at Scrap Matters and I just wanted to show off my layouts!

The first one (yesterday)had the following instructions: 1. Choose 1 template that you LOVE. 2 any number of papers will do, but I want to see a paper border on 2 sides of your layout. 3. How about 3 (or more)photos tonight! If your template doesn’t have 3, be creative with it. 4. Choose an element and use it in 4 different spots on your layout. 5. Add 5 more of the same element and embellish to your hearts content. 6. Let’s see at least 6 lines of journaling (I don’t care how long the lines are). 7. Use an alpha for your title. It should have 7 or more characters (numbers, letters, punctuation, etc…).

And here's my layout...Cheese Fries:

The second speed scrap finished just a little while ago. The steps were: 1. Choose your pictures (at least 3) but don’t place them just yet. 2. Choose your papers. Again, let’s use at least 3. And wait just a little bit longer for placing them on your page. 3. A lot of the LOs I’ve been putting into my favorites lately have some blocking going on. So let’s see some of that today. Place your photos (and paper if you like) in some sort of blocking arrangement. 4. You can use whatever elements you want, as long as there is at least 1 flower and 1 leaf. 5. I’d also like to see some ricrac/string/ribbon/lace (any OR all of those). 6. Add your title and journal. At least one of those things (the title, the journaling, or both) should be on one of your blocks. 7. Date your LO using a date element you haven’t used before. Add your shadows and anything else you need to complete your LO.

were not fun! I had a flare up of my psoriasis which turned into an infection! Yucko!! I'm on antibiotics and well on my way to healing and actually feel better than I have in months!

I get to visit little Jackson....he's such a cutie and 4 months old and I have yet to meet the little guy! Here's a layout I did of him using Juno Designs "Dessert" kit. Such a versatile kit!

I finished another challenge at Scrap Matters called Grand Theft layout. They choose a gallery (in this case it was Becca's gorgeous gallery found here. I lifted her "Every Day I Love You More" layout which is so cute!!

I created "Snow Angel - Olivia" using the kit Snow Angel by Laura Anderson. (beautiful kit!)

Heather's (Dirty Feet Designs) new kit, Sea-Scape, hits the ScrapMatters store tomorrow! It is such an awesome kit! So easy to work with.

I made the 2 layouts above exclusively using the Sea-Scape kit. The first is my brother catching a whopper in 1956. Boy does he look proud!! The 2nd is my beautiful niece, Rachel. I actually combined 2 papers, 2 photos, 2 clouds, 2 sets of sand and added her shadow to achieve the look. I love how they turned out!

A Sad and Sobering Day

I dropped my friend off at the Avenue S park n' ride after work this morning. We got on the freeway and there was a ton of traffic, obviously due to an accident. She opted to continue up the off ramp side and go up ahead. I opted to head over to the carpool lane, open for anyone during certain hours. We were still blocked but she had a better, closer view of the accident. When she got home, I found out that a young girl had been ejected and her mother was cradling the body, refusing to let her go for the officers. My friend had seen this. I, luckily, did not. CHP had blocked the view by the time I got up to the scene. At this point, I was grateful, as I have seen my fill of fatalities because I drive so many miles.

My point is this. Do not let your child undo their safety belt NO MATTER WHAT while the car is moving. Hug your child daily and let them know how much you love them, even if you are angry at them for whatever reason. DO NOT TEXT WHILE DRIVING. DO NOT TAILGATE. DO NOT SPEED. DO NOT WEAVE IN AND OUT. MOST OF ALL DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK, SICK OR ULTRA-TIRED.

While I do not know what actually caused the accident at this point, it happened and it was terrible. I don't know and cannot know what the mother was going through mentally. I do know what it put my friend through (she is a mother).

I can't tell you how many times I am tail-gated, flipped off on the freeway for only going 75, cut off or whatever due to road rage. Please don't go there. I can easily go through life never seeing another fatality again!

I have been having so much fun being on the gang with all the Scrap Matters Girls (SMG). They have some awesome layouts and love to leave love on layouts! One of the things we also like to do is push things that are happening on Scrap Matters. An ongoing (usually) challenge monthly is the Quick Page exchange. One kit is offered at a discount, you make a page, make it into a quick page by removing the photos and words and email to the hostess. She zips them all together and...voila...a whole book, completed....all you have to do is supply the photos!

Is everyone happily stocked up on digiscrapping kits? How can you not be with the great sales. And some, like at ScrapMatters will continue throughout the month! I think I got between 25-30 kits!!! Downloading took forever but was well worth it.

I am posting one of my latest layouts. It's my brother-in-law playing with some big boy toys and created to look like the "easy rider" 35th anniversary edition DVD. It was fun to create and simple. Using masks is so easy. Just place the photo in a 2nd layer over the mask, Ctrl + G and voila!

First, it's (inter)National Scrapbook Day, and while the whole world of digital scrapping is having one sale or another, ScrapMatters seems to be having a MONSTER day planned. They have a blog train that goes on forever (lot's of 5X7 brag book pages created from the Hawaiian Happy Hour kit that you can get free if you spend just $15.00!).

But a couple of other cool things have happened this week that are so exciting for me! First, I was chosen to be on Heather's (Dirty Feet Designs) CT Team. WOOT!!!! I am so excited to be sporting her blinkie! The second, well, it hasn't been officially announced so I'm sitting on my hands. But I'm such a happy camper right now.

Oh yeah. Are you a madscrapper??? Wanna be the Queen of Scraps??? Take a peek at this competition as ScrapMatters. I WILL BE QUEEN (or I'm going to give it a HUMUNGOUS try!!!)

National Scrapbook Month is Coming!!

May is National Scrapbook Month. I've been taking a look around and they have something great starting. It's called the "Queen of Scraps!" They will be having tons of challenges and speedscraps, sounds like lots of fun! They will also be choosing CT members for the site so it will have some additional benefits to joining!

Woo hoo!!!! I'm so excited....on April 24, the FDA approved Simponi, an injectable biological used for treating several things, but for me it should help my psoriatic arthritis. Now I just have to have patience and wait the 6 months until Blue Cross will allow me to use it *sigh*. It seems to be having good results with stubborn PA so I can't wait to give it a go.

I attended a Speed Scrap (online) at ScrapMatters. Great instructions! Above you can see the final result. The main kit I used was Low Tide by Jen Lin Designs, the heart was from Clearly Seen Elements by Jeni Hopewell and the template was a freebie from Haynay Designs.

Well, off for a few hours sleep!

National Scrapbooking Day is May 2nd. That whole week, most of the digiscrapping sites will be celebrating with sales, contests and other fun things! Some of my faves are:

And so many more (I'll keep adding to these). The designers I like tend to make very complete kits and the items look realistic or they go totally into fantasy. This way you'll get an idea of what you will find on those sites.

Don't forget to check designer's blogs. They will probably be having their own contests and freebies, if not on their blog, on the site they sell on!

Baby Jackson, Blending Papers

Little baby Jackson arrived April 21, 2009 at 10:26 PM. 8 pounds, 3 ounces, 20 inches long. Of course, I've already started the scrapping! LOL.

Here I used the kit "Baby Jackson" (yes, I bought it before he was born because of the name) by MickeyB found at ScrapMatters. Beautiful colors and I especiallly love the papers...they blend well together. I used a mask by Studio Phuong at Scrapbookgraphics.

Now, the question is, how do you blend two papers? Just like you blend a photo onto the background. Play with the opacity, but also play with the layer types (just above the layers palatte in PSE 6) such as color burn, linear burn. You get some awesome effects!

Well, I'm off to do more scrapping!

CT Calls

So I decided to check around and see what CT calls really entail. Here's what I have found so far.

Enable: A lot of the designers ask you to enable their kits on certain websites and on your blog. This means (I believe) that you promote their kits (okay, easy enough). You also, say if someone is looking for that perfect tropical kit and the designer has one, suggest that kit for those peeps! What a grand and very easy idea!!

They ask you to send you a link to your most complete gallery and 1-3 of your favorite layouts (depending on the designer). My tendancy, when I create, is to use several kits. I'll start out with one and think, that flower in the other kit would go perfect right here! Well, get out of that frame of mind. You can do so occasionally but concentrate on working with one designer's kit for your layout.

Short bio: I have since learned my bio is a little too short (okay, I've only answered 1 CT call, didn't make it...see why in the paragraph above :P). Let them know a little about you, kids, pets, etc. but also tell them about your digi scrapping. When did you get started and why? What intrigues you? Do you work with hybrid? Things that would make them take a 2nd look at what you can REALLY do!!!

Last but not least, they ask to promote them on your blog. This means keeping your blog up to date. Feel free to post your layouts, but also, maybe review the kit you used, all the things that were good about it. Well, I'm thinking I don't do this, but I will be starting. I think I would be good on a creative team but I have soooo much to learn. I'm thinking that I'm writing this blog today more for me...to ingrain it in my brain as to what I need to do. Well, I'm off to try and put my name in for a CT.

I'm really getting to love these fantasy layouts. They are gorgeous scenes that take you away to somewhere not of this earth. Here is one I created from the kit "Secret Garden" by SussieM Designs. You can find her kits at Scrapbookgraphics. They are gorgeous. Also, Lorie Davison's kits can be found on the same website.

Above is a layout I made of my cousin's little one, Samantha. Easter 2006 she was searching for eggs but the weeds in one corner of the backyard were too high for her sandals. Off come the sandals and on go Aunt Terin's shoes. She was just too cute! So I extracted one of her photos and popped it into this great fantasy. The title, "Samantha's Magical Shoes." Enjoy!
