Journaling Contest

Christine (Mama's Talking About Everything) is offering a great prize on her blog. Check out her rules. The basics are to take a previous layout without journaling and add some journaling to it. So, you ask, why is this such a big deal?? Two reasons.....1.....Christine made a great point about how lots of us just don't journal enough and you might only see half the story in the page. The rest could be told in the journaling.....2....she is offering a free copy of ACDSee 2009 Photo Manager (a $50 value...WOW!)....so dig around in those old layouts you have and add some journaling. Enjoy!!!

Oh, and posted is a layout I just completed for the Tuesday Template challenge on Scrap Matters. I used the kit Landon by Golden Girls, and the template was created by Jeni Hopewell for the challenge.

Fave You Tube Video, Latest Speed Scrap

The lastest and possibly the most favorite video on You Tube is "Star Wars" - an a capella tribute to John Williams". Corey Vidal created this by splitting the screen and singing all 4 parts. His voice is awesome and he does a great job. You kinda have to know your Star Wars since he goes thru all the films, but he does it so entertaining-ly (is that a word?) I've watched it several times and it will be worth watching several more. You see little things throughout. He also "annotated" the video (little boxed pop up) so you can know what movie the tune he is currently singing is from. Well worth the 4 minutes and change!!!

Listen to Corey Vidal here.
*****EDIT***** Just went to Moosebutter.com. Guess what..they did the songs....Vidal is just doing the Milli Vanilli thing (lip synching). But it's still a great video!! Uh...Moosebutter does the singing!!

And above is my latest speed scrap I completed (every Wednesday on Scrap Matters, plus there will be one this Friday....check it out!). I just about pulled my hair out trying to save it. I would put jpg....my computer couldn't read it...got a blank page. I put jpg again....flipped to PSE file. Jeepers! Took me 20 minutes to save it! But here it is.

VOTE VOTE VOTE

Hey folks. the USA has a democracy that gives us the privilege to vote for who we want to lead us. Wow! That is just unbelievable...especially when you look at all the other countries that don't have that chance! Get out and vote today! Vote how you feel (of course) but also keep in mind that that person and/or his vice-president will lead the country for the next 4 years. So vote not just with your heart but with your head. Nuff said.

Now onto the scrapping. Earlier I said I completed the Saturday Night Special challenge on Scrap Matters that was to include negative space. So here is my page. Hope you like it. Credits are :

Well, I'm just sitting here trying to fight a sore throat (I'm losing!) so I've completed 2 challenges tonite! First, I did the Saturday Special on Scrapmatters....then I completed the November Designer Challenge for ScrapbookMAX. Love the way both came out. Today, I'll post the "Turkey Protest" for SBM. The font is "A Bite" by Billy Argel, with the smaller font Artisan by Creative Keepsakes. Well, gonna try to get a little sleep here....so....

Rana, my cat, is near impossible to get a great picture from.  She's 15 years young and feisty.  She just hates the camera.  Well, a challenge on Scrap Matters was to get CLOSE to your subject to take pictures.  While I did some still close ups (of this great glass cherry bowl by Donald Carlson), I really wanted to try to get her.  So I took several pics and finally realized, if I have my camera set to "red eye" flash, she thinks the flash is over and opens her eyes again!  Of course, that's when the camera actually takes the photo!  I finally got some nice photos.  This is the page I made from the photos.  The word art is mine, the kit is Autumn      by JenLin Designs.  Great kit!  I love the way it turned out.

My First Speed Scrap

Well, I completed my first Speed Scrap at Scrap Matters. Let me tell you I was a nervous wreck. I tried photo after photo...cropping the photo....shaping the photo....Well, let's start at the beginning. A speed scrap is where you have one hour and every 10 minutes starting at the top of the hour, you receive a new instruction. You get an extra hour to finish up and post your picture to the gallery. Man, I was sweating bullets! And it was supposed to be fun (Okay, fessing up here...once it was over I had a blast!). I finally ended up scrapping Jason and Ashley at Disneyland in 2006. They're such Disney buffs anyway, it just seemed to fit...and finally come together. The kits I used were all from Britt-ish Designs...she has several awesome Disney kits. So....let me know what you think. Here's the page. Well, off to get dinner (at 9:00 in the evening! I love being on vacation!)

Well, today is my last day at work before going on my "staycation"...my stay-at-home vacation. I have no projects to do, so I will be doing yuck work (cleaning my cubby and finding a better place for coffee supplies). Does this sound like fun or what? Uh....yeah...right! Well, who cares!?!? I don't have to return to work for 3 1/2 weeks!!! Yipee!! I have tons of stuff to do at home...clean...scrap...clean...visit...clean...scrap...clean....clean..clean...scrap..you get the idea! Well, I have to get ready soon...there are so many fires, the roads are a mess and I'll have to take the LOOOOONNNGG way around to get to work. So I'm outta here. I'm going to download a page I did of my good friend, Sue and her son, Gregory....I love the way it turned out! All of the items came from the Fall Splendor Blog train which begins here. Be prepared to download for days, though...there are tons of BEAUTIFUL kits! Enjoy! (Oh yeah, the little twig and the word art are mine!

Scary Morning

I got into the area of my home from work, this morning...and instead of going straight home, I did some errands. Well, I was driving to my last one, and there was this puppy in the road....he had been hit several times and, sadly, had died. The scary part was, he looked just like my dog Shadow. He had the same red harness and was the same size. I cried all the way home, peeked in my backyard and had to hold back the scream when Shadow came bounding out of the garage!!!! I was ecstatic! Well, I ran out of time to scrap a picture of him so I'm posting one I scrapped a while back in the frame I made. But I want everyone to go hug their animals, hubby, wife, kids...just love 'em up today! I keep thinking there is a family that lost their friend today and how sad that is.
(The paper is from Carena's Kitty Kat kit and the belt is from the Scotty kit, both found on ScrapbookMAX. The frame is the one I made and can be found on one of my older posts -search for pawprint frame)

My friends and I went to "The Melting Pot" last. It's a high-end fondue restaurant. Now, I'm not a drinker....period. However, everyone was trying different martini's and they talked me into choosing one. (Ya don't like it....I'll drink it!). So I opted for a Pomegranate Cosmo.....citrus vodka, pomegranate liqueur, pomegranate juice and cranberry juice. OMG! It was delicious. I usually take a few sips of whatever drink and pass it on.....I drank it all except the last 1/2 inch at the bottom! Woke up with the mother of all headaches *ouch*. Of course, I tasted everyone elses drinks as well...these included the "love" martini (yuck-strawberry), carmel apple martini (okay), yin yang (they make a ying yang on top with chocolate, was pretty good!), the chocolatini (so so), and the french hawaiian (yuck!). 90 bucks worth of drinks later......(only 4 of us ?!?!?!?!). Food...yes...we had food...appetizers were breads, veggies and fruit to dip into spinach artichoke fondue and cheese fondue. Dinner was platters of lobster tail, shrimp, bbq pork, filet mignon, chicken, and more veggies. Dessert...now...that was a treat (not that ALL this food wasn't yummy!). We had one pot of chocolate peanut butter fondue and one pot of Smores (chocolate, marshmallow creme sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs). For dessert dipping there was pound cake, fruit, cheesecake, rice krispie treats, brownies. I'm a thinking I gained AT LEAST 10 pounds last night!

Here is another of my scrapping pages....the flower was from Carena's "Alex" kit, found on ScrapbookMAX, the word art from http://elegantwordart2.blogspot.com/ and the paper is from DigiKeepsakes by Monica Evans (grunge paper). I love the simplicity. Hope you do too!

Well, I've really been getting into the digital scrapbook thing now. I've been learning up a storm and trying new things. This is one of my favorites....it's my cousin's daughter, Samantha. She wore my shoes because she wouldn't walk through the tall, dry grass in her sandals during the Easter egg hunt. I extracted the photo and then had some fun. Fairies are from freetubes.com, the rest is from Joann Cinnamon's Fairy Dreams - My Digital Addiction. Enjoy! (By the way, extractions look difficult but are quite easy once you catch on!!!).
Oh...and my vacation is in one week!! Yay!! I'm counting down. Not going anywhere, but gonna have fun anyway....

Blue Cross and Wellness Pharmacy

Well, here I am having issues with Blue Cross and Wellness Pharmacy. First, Blue Cross forces users of what they deem "specialty" drugs to use their own Wellness Pharmacy (first red flag!). They sent me a letter a year ago saying I was not part of this because I have a PPO. Well, at the beginning of this year...all of a sudden, my Enbrel is delayed because I have to go through this specialty pharmacy!!! 12 weeks late!!!!! I won't tell you the "discomfort" (very mild word) this put me through. My doctor switched me to Humira...and here we go again. I called in the prescription a week and a half ago...PLENTY of time to get their tushies in gear and get the meds ordered and to me. They promised them to me today, Tuesday....well, guess what!?! No meds!!! Oh...so sorry they say, Blue Cross hasn't approved it..HUH???? What a bunch of bull---o---nee.....Ummmm...can someone tell me this? They told me they would call me if they hit a glitch...well, I call that a glitch!!! Anyhow, I'm told I'll get it Thursday...but I'm a wreck now....falling apart because I'm so afraid of the breakout if it happens. Well....I'll keep you posted. My stomach is in knots!!!

Well, I finally "created" something in Adobe Photoshop. It's a cute Pawprint Frame! Remember, it's my first so it may not be perfect. I am truly learning here. Grab the frame here.

Well, since the last post, I have removed the part of the dress on the left hand side of the wedding photo and have begun to play with color! It's been fun but frustrating. I tend to have a heavy hand in real life and that's showing up in the restoration and coloring. Interesting, since it's a digital brush. So now I'm learning to let up a little, digitally speaking!

Okay, now to life in general. Has anyone noticed how service at most fast food joints has deteriorated? And heaven forbid you should wish to speak to the manager. They're just KIDS. Went to a MickyD's today...one with the double drive thru. The other car was first and they took his order. He goes ahead and I wait my turn. The next car drives up and they take his order!!! Completely skipped me. So here I am, yelling hello into my speaker and being ignored. Two more cars drive thru (course I'm kinda stuck, but finally figured out how to get out). There were no cones, no signs, nothing to tell me that that driveway wasn't being used. So, I stop and go inside. The "server" grunts something at me and I ask to talk to the manager. The manager is mixing a drink, turns and looks at me, says nothing and completes the drink, giving it to the person who ordered. Okay, except for no acknowledgement, we're still good. Then she proceeds to take the next order, instead of telling the grunter to handle them. So I "reminded" her that I had asked to speak with her. She said that she knew that but wanted to handle these customers first. I said that's what I wanted to talk about...the terrible service in the drive thru, that I had not had my order taken while 3 other cars had....she mumbles, "I'm sorry" and continues with the order!!!! I'm appalled!!! Whatever happened to customer service!!! She couldn't have been more than 22 so I'm sure she has no idea what that is. Needless to say, an email has been shot off to corporate. This MickeyD's is notorious for poor service, but it's close to work, and thus available.

Well, thanks for listening to me gripe. Gonna try to get some sleep before going to work.

Well, I've been working on the Adobe PS Elements restoration. I started with an easy photo, my Mom and Dad's wedding picture. It had a black streak and some spots, so I put the clone tool to good use. The photo was also straightened in Picasa. Next is a crumpled photo, one that is sun faded and a few that are torn. Hopefully I'll get to them in the next week or so. (Oh yeah, the straightened photo is the restored one).

Good Morning! I got the pictures on. The slide show is only showing 12 pictures....just click on it to see more. I still have to add some captions, but some have which kits they were made from. Just remember....NO PIRACY (stealing someone elses work!).....this is getting to be a big deal in the digital scrapbook world. People are finding their hard work all over the internet. If you buy a kit, or download a freebie, please make sure to follow the Terms of Use (aka TOU). Is the kit commercial or for personal use only. These TOUs should be downloaded with the kit and remain with the kit. Why? Well, each one lists what uses the artist will allow for that kit. They may give you a little extra wiggle room on one kit that they wouldn't with another. So.....the thought for the day? NO PIRACY ALLOWED...unless of course it's in a picture somewhere! Such as...these pirate beauties...the background and border are tiles supplied by Granny on ScrapbookMAX, tbe other embies are from the kit "Alex" by Carena Scott, also on ScrapbookMAX. TTFN

Updates

Wow! It's been a while since I've been blogging. Digital scrapping is definitely taking up my computer time. I'm going to have to post some in my photos.

I'm starting to teach myself how to restore photos in Adope PS Elements 4. This is a big undertaking for me cuz I'm just not getting the hang of PS, no matter how easy everyone says it is. I just can't get my head wrapped around it. Once I'm done with that, I hope to start designing elements, papers and alphas. Baby steps....I know!!!!! But it's just soo much fun!

Well, off to post some pics of what I've been doing.

Oh yeah, and as a suggestion, keep a book of what kits you used with what pictures. Much easier than reconstructing it for when you put it online. Whew...much easier!

Yesterday

Spent the day with the three nieces yesterday. I found out that at the ages of 13, 14 and 21...not one of them had ever built their own bear at Build-a-Bear Workshop! Well, I couldn't deprive them of that experience, so we built 3 bears and a dog. Uh....yeah....I had to get a dog!!! Well, I'm paying...right?!?!?! And we fully dressed them. Well, I got a lot more scrapping material and enjoyed myself immensly!

Afterwards, we went to PF Changs for dinner. This is Chinese Bistro restaurant, that also has a gluten-free menu (as well as a training menu for you atheletes and a new grill menu with Alaskan salmon and New York steak)! Yay for us! They serve dinner homestyle, so everyone can try a little of everything. We had GF lettuce wraps (this ab fab chicken, water chestnut, crunchy rice noodle mix that you spoon into iceberg lettuce leaves and wrap into mini "burritos." Don't forget to add the GF soy sauce. Dinner for me was Lemon Chicken (delicious summery meal) which also has brocolli and lemon slices. The girls ordered beef brocolli and sweet and sour chicken. While we didn't eat dessert there....I did order a GF Chocolate Dome to go. Now, mind you, the complaint from the girls was...I'm just too full to eat dessert. By the time we got home, I ended up splitting my one dessert 4 ways! **sigh** By the way, the Chocolate Dome is this delicious, moist little mound of chocolate with raspberries, blueberries and strawberries (all fresh) with a raspberry sauce. Just gained 10 pounds thinking
about it!! (Oh yeah, my Medifast diet was broken!)

Well, I have to work tonite, so it's off to bed, trying to sleep...air conditioner running full blast.

Happy Father's Day!

I want to first start out by saying, "Happy Father's Day" to all Dads and Daddys, especially my own. What would we do without fathers? I love to go to mine for advice on larger purchases. I don't always agree, but I listen to what he has to say! Love ya, Dad!

I also want to wish a Happy Father's Day to the newest Dad I know, Scott. He has a new daughter, Elizabeth Anne, born June 10. She's so cute. The moment I received her pictures, I knew I had to try my hand at a digital scrapbook page (the breathing tubes were a one-day thing to assist her breathing after a c-section). That's the page just above. Here is a list of the components:
1. Page created using Scrapbook MAX software, font used was from this software.
2. Background paper, Shabby Princess, Promise Collection.
3. Brad element, Digital Scrapbook Pages, Gift page kit designed by Stacey Jewell Stahl.
4. Ribbon, Digital Scrapbook Pages, Welcome Kit.
Well, TTFN....enjoy a quiet Sunday!

My First Blog

Good day! This is my first blog, so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Terin. I have 1 cat, Rana, who is 15 years old. I also have 2 dogs, both around 7 years old, Shadow and Danny Boy. My hobbies include scrapbooking, digital scrapbooking, reading, and messing around on the computer. I am gluten-free (but not diagnosed Celiac) due to psoriatic arthritis, which I have had for about 27 years. And last but not least, I collect frogs (not the real ones, no room) as well as Northwest art.

I am just starting Medifast today...no I won't be weighing myself...I just hope to notice the difference as I try on clothes. I'll let you know how I feel, whether I'm actually looking thinner....and maybe even post some before, during and after pics.

I hope to accomplish different things with this blog. I would like to show off my scrapping, talk about my animals and discuss life in general. I'm not good at coming up with new recipes, so those that are hoping to find new recipes at this blog may as well quit looking here. If I find a new recipe, however, I will post the location of the recipe so you can locate it easily. Any recommendations, etc, please let me know. I would like to hear from you, perhaps get to know you.

Welcome to my blog!
